Candlelit Acu-Yin Yoga Series

Winter invites us to embrace yin energy—a time for deep rest and restoration. In this 5-class series, we combine the transformative practices of Yin Yoga and acupressure (with an acupuncture option) to harmonize energy flow and support the body's natural rhythms during the winter season.

Yin Yoga features long-held postures that promote deep relaxation and activate the parasympathetic nervous system, the body’s “rest and digest” mode. By pairing these poses with acupressure or acupuncture, we stimulate key meridian points to enhance energy circulation, nourish the connective tissues (fascia), and encourage the flow of chi. Throughout the class, guided breathwork anchors the practice, fostering calm and focus.

This series follows the Nurturing Five Element Cycle, a concept rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Each session focuses on an element and its associated organ, season, and energy:

  • Class 1 (January 5): Kidneys/Water

  • Class 2:(January 12) Liver/Wood

  • Class 3:(January 19) Heart/Fire

  • Class 4:(January 26) Spleen/Earth

  • Class 5:(February 2) Lungs/Metal

By aligning our practice with the Five Elements, we deepen the connection between our internal energy systems and the natural world.

Class Format

  • 5 minutes: Introduction to the element, organ, and channel theory for the session, including related emotions, colors, and seasonal insights, led by Sarah.

  • 5 minutes: Guided pranayama (breathwork) led by Toni.

  • 5 minutes: Gentle warm-up movements.

  • 20-30 minutes: Yin Yoga postures (2-3 poses held for 5-10 minutes each) with acupressure or acupuncture.

  • 30 minutes: Extended savasana with the option for acupuncture.

This immersive practice helps release stagnant energy, restore balance, and support the organs associated with the season. Whether you’re new to Yin Yoga or an experienced practitioner, this series offers a unique opportunity to nurture your body and mind this winter.
