Yoga Nidra, meaning "yogic sleep”, is an ancient meditation technique where a deeper state of conscious relaxation is achieved, shifting awareness from the external world to the internal.
This guided relaxation practice invites our senses, intellect, and mind to completely let go and rest. Our brain activity slows down while the body enters a healing state, encouraging removal of toxins at the cellular level all while refreshing the mind.
Yoga Nidra has been said to reduce anxiety, stress and improve overall well-being. This practice can help reduce negative thought patterns, assist in regulating sleep cycles, release emotional tension and increase awareness of the self. The rest gained in one hour of Yoga Nidra has been noted to equal 4 hours of sleep :)
